La velocità di ProBot

Paola Pezzini

Abstract

This article describes a possible classroom use for the robot ProBot, which is a small robot shaped like an automobile. The robot can respond to simple commands inputted on its roof by moving forwards, backwards, right or left. In this case it has been used to give students the opportunity to measure the car’s speed according to their skills and age. The lesson explores the introduction of Physical Quantities and their respective Measurements, which is part of the “prima media” (age group: 11-12 years old) curriculum. This same topic is further developed during the following grade, the “seconda media”. The initiative described above offered students a new learning opportunity, in which they practically applied the theoretical concept of the relationship between space and time.
